Description
A new album that’s both edgy and a treat for the ears
On 25 September, Robert Johnson and Punchdrunks releases a new album, ‘Pussy Was Wired for Sound’. This album reinforces the band’s unique style and opens the door to a wider audience.
Robert Johnson and Punchdrunks have been one of the most respected names in surf rock worldwide for more than three decades. The band has always been at the forefront of challenging and pushing the boundaries of the genre. Their music isn’t just for nostalgic purists — Robert Johnson and Punchdrunks present their own take on surf, Italian B-movies and a rogue’s way of life.
This attitude has come at a cost. They were at their zenith when they graced the main stages at major festivals and were commissioned to compose music for blockbuster films. However, success and challenging their audience’s expectations do not go hand in hand. However, this is not something the band have spent much time thinking about. They don’t concern themselves with other people’s expectations; they have a cauldron full of influences to simmer down into their own brand of post-apocalyptic surf rock.
Their new album, ‘Pussy Was Wired for Sound’, is no exception. It bears the band’s unmistakable individuality. Yet, at the same time, it features tracks that could leave even a broad audience spellbound.
The album is being released in a limited edition with a laminated gatefold sleeve and orange vinyl, and it is absolutely marvellous. It can be ordered through Redeye at record shops worldwide. Or right here, right now.
Please note that this is a pre-order at the moment. We’ll try to get it to you around the release date, 25 September 2026!
